Nightlife areas in Naples
Where the evening scene is: the historic centre, Chiaia and the seafront.
Naples has several areas for an evening out, each with its own mix of bars, restaurants and music. This page goes through them one by one, using the descriptions on the Visit Naples tourism website and the Naples destination portal.
Piazza Bellini and the old streets
Piazza Bellini is full of bars, some with seating and some take-away, and is popular with Erasmus students. Piazza San Domenico Maggiore has several bars that stay open at night, and street food is available at night in the streets of the centre. The streets around Via dei Tribunali and Via San Biagio dei Librai are where people drink in the street and listen to live music. Spaccanapoli and Piazza del Gesù Nuovo lead to Piazza Bellini.
Via Chiaia, Via dei Mille and Piazza dei Martiri
Cocktail bars, wine bars, contemporary trattorias and lounge bars with live music, along Via Chiaia, Via dei Mille, Piazza dei Martiri and the side streets climbing towards Via Alabardieri. Some venues have terraces with views of Vesuvius or the lights along the waterfront. The lanes near Piazza San Pasquale, known as the baretti, have many bars.
Lungomare, Castel dell'Ovo and Borgo Marinari
Restaurants with sea views and lounge bars along the Lungomare, with fairs and festivals on some weekends. Borgo Marinari, the small harbour at the foot of Castel dell'Ovo, is described as characteristic for nightlife. Lungomare Caracciolo and Mergellina are the waterfront for an evening stroll with a drink or a snack, looking at Vesuvius.
