What it's like
Chiaia is an elegant district of boutiques, cafés and wide avenues. Right alongside it runs the Lungomare, the seafront promenade with views of the bay and Vesuvius.
It's calmer than the historic centre and suits those who prefer quiet and a more relaxed pace.
Line 1 doesn't reach here. Use Line 6, the Funicolare di Chiaia, or walk to Municipio station. Always check whether Line 6 is running before relying on it.
A residential area with less nightlife and fewer hotels than the centre. The distance from Line 1 means a bit more walking or an extra change.
